Checkout phone OTP
Send a code to the number entered at checkout and require it before the order is accepted. Can be applied to cash on delivery orders only.
Check that the phone number is real, the address is deliverable and the buyer is not a repeat refuser, before a parcel leaves your warehouse. High-risk orders are held automatically for review.
Buyer Verify sits between checkout and fulfilment. At checkout it can require a one-time password so the phone number is proven to belong to the buyer. After the order is placed it scores the order against your blacklist of past refusers, the completeness of the address, the phone pattern, order value and how many orders that customer has placed in a short window. Orders above your risk threshold are put on hold and tagged, so your packing team only sees orders you have cleared.

Maintain a list of numbers and addresses that have refused deliveries before. Matching orders are flagged the moment they arrive.
Weighted signals across address quality, phone format, order value, item count, repeat ordering and prior delivery history produce a single score per order.
Orders over your threshold get a fulfilment hold and a risk tag, so they cannot be picked and packed until somebody clears them.
Collect a national identity number as an order attribute where your category or your courier requires it, with the field shown only when your rules trigger it.
A single screen listing held orders with the reason, the matching signals and one-click approve or cancel, instead of digging through the orders list.
Install the app and import any blacklist you already keep in a spreadsheet of past refusers.
Set your risk weights and the score at which an order is automatically held for review.
Turn on checkout OTP for the payment methods and order values where you want it enforced.
Work the review queue daily, approving good orders and adding confirmed refusers to the blacklist.
A refused cash on delivery parcel costs both courier legs plus handling. Screening before dispatch converts that spend into an order you never shipped.
Prank and competitor orders die at the OTP step rather than tying up stock, packing labour and courier pickup slots.
Cash on delivery already locks up your money for weeks. Not shipping to known refusers keeps inventory available for buyers who will pay.
Verified phone numbers make every downstream channel work better, from WhatsApp order updates to SMS campaigns and courier calls at the doorstep.

It adds friction, so expect some drop-off. The trade is fewer fake orders and fewer failed deliveries. Most merchants apply it only to cash on delivery, or only above a value threshold, and leave prepaid checkouts untouched since payment has already cleared there.
Yours starts with your own refusal history, which you can import from a spreadsheet or build from courier return data. The app does not share your customer list with other merchants by default; any cross-store list is opt-in and configured explicitly.
Yes, and that is the recommended setting. A held order stays in Shopify with a fulfilment hold and a risk tag. Nothing is cancelled automatically unless you turn that on, so a good customer who tripped a rule is never lost silently.
It carries obligations around consent, retention and access, so only collect it where a courier or category genuinely requires it. Keep the field off by default, restrict who can view it in admin, and agree a deletion schedule with your legal advisor before switching it on.
We will import your refusal history, tune the scoring rules and set your hold thresholds.
