Back in Stock Alerts — stop losing the sale to a sold-out badge

Put a notify me button on every out-of-stock variant, capture email, phone or WhatsApp, and fire the alert automatically when inventory goes positive. See which SKUs people are waiting for and how many alerts convert.

Back in Stock Alerts demand report listing out-of-stock variants ranked by waitlist size and alerts converted

What Back in Stock Alerts does

A sold-out variant is a visitor who wanted to buy and left with nothing recorded. This app captures that intent. The notify me button replaces the disabled add-to-cart on any unavailable variant, takes one contact detail, and holds the request against that exact variant. When inventory for the variant rises above zero, the waitlist is alerted in order. The demand report then tells your buying team which sizes and colours to reorder first.

What you get

Notify me button

A theme block that appears only when the selected variant is unavailable, matching your product page rather than sitting in a floating widget.

Email, phone or WhatsApp

Ask for whichever contact detail suits your audience. Local buyers give a mobile number far more readily than an email address.

Per-variant waitlists

Requests attach to the specific size and colour, not the parent product, so nobody is told a shirt is back when only one size returned.

Automatic firing

The app watches inventory levels and sends as soon as available quantity crosses your threshold, with an optional delay to batch a restock.

Demand report

Out-of-stock SKUs ranked by waitlist size, age of the oldest request and estimated value, exportable for your purchasing decisions.

Alert conversion tracking

See alerts sent, links clicked and orders placed within the window, so restock messaging is measured like any other campaign.

How it works

  1. 1

Add the theme block to your product template and choose which contact fields the notify me form requests.

  2. 2

Shoppers on a sold-out variant submit their details. The request is stored against that variant with a timestamp.

  3. 3

Inventory returns. The app detects the change and sends the alert on the channel the shopper gave.

  4. 4

Track clicks and orders in the report, and use waitlist ranking to decide what to reorder next.

Why merchants run it

Restocks sell out faster

A waiting list means the first hours after a restock convert at full price instead of drifting until you discount to move the stock.

Buying decisions backed by data

Waitlist depth per size and colour is a direct demand signal, better than guessing next season's size curve from last season's sales.

Contact list grows for free

Every request adds a reachable contact with a known product interest, useful for launches long after the original restock.

Fewer wasted ad clicks

Paid traffic landing on an unavailable variant still produces something. The click is captured rather than bounced back to the feed.

Frequently asked questions

Will the button work with my theme?

It installs as a theme app block on Online Store 2.0 themes, so you place it in the product template through the editor. Older or heavily customised themes may need a small manual insertion, which we handle as part of setup.

What if stock returns for one minute and sells out?

Set a minimum quantity threshold so alerts only fire when enough units exist to serve the waitlist, and add a short batching delay. That avoids sending five hundred messages for three units and the complaints that follow.

Does it handle multiple inventory locations?

Available quantity is evaluated across the locations you nominate, so warehouse-only stock can trigger alerts while a retail branch does not. This matters when your online store draws from one location and your shops from another.

Can I see what a waitlist is worth before reordering?

The demand report multiplies waitlist count by variant price to give an indicative value per SKU. Treat it as a ranking signal rather than a forecast, since not everyone on a list converts when the alert lands.

Capture the demand your sold-out pages are throwing away

We will fit the notify me block to your theme and set thresholds around how you actually restock.
